Customers around the Shop: Mark S.

Here’s Mark in his two new sets of really awesome glasses.
The vintage-inspired crystal-grey frame (above) is a sharp update that doesn’t stray from its retro-styled roots.
Mark, rocking his new sunglasses from the EOF Collection, “The Troll.”  He really does that style justice!

Eyes on Fremont Collection’s Frame of the Week: Revisiting the Lenin in Olive/Evergreen

This week we are gonna re-visit one of our EOF Collection favorites the LENIN, because we can’t get enough of it!

Evergreen/olive is the 2nd of three colors in this model; it is easily one of those staple frame colors for your expanding glasses collection. The richness of this two-toned green is complementary to any eye color and is a welcome departure to the standard brown earth tone!

Eyes on Fremont Collection’s Frame of the Week: Meet the “RKCNDY in Blackish”

This week’s EOF frame pays homage to one of the Seattle institutions to help birth the grunge scene:
RKCNDY in Blackish
This petite, sorta squarish, sorta cat-eyeish shape dares to be a touch of both for those looking for a little edge while maintaining a femme façade- a truly badass shape!  What else can we say about the deep matte grey & frosted white color? It would be SO SEATTLE to declare this color scheme “the new black”….

RKCNDY: R.I.P.
RKCNDY was located on the corner of Yale ave. where a Springhill Suites now lives.

The RKCNDY was a hole in the wall, all ages club venue at the foot of Capitol Hill & Downtown Seattle, on Yale ave. during the 90’s.  It is legendary for helping cultivate the “grunge scene”, which made many local big hitters such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Hole (plus countless other alt rock bands) icons of the music world.

RKCNDY was a refuge of sorts from the soggy grey mentality of that time- lively crowds engaged in many crowd surfing & mosh pit ventures to get their passive-aggressive angst out of the way.  No doubt, when the doors closed on October 30, 1999 it was a sad day- in a way, the Seattle music scene hasn’t been the same since.

Eyes on Fremont Collection’s Frame of the Week: Meet the “Greenwood” in “Greenish”

Unique neighborhoods are what make up this extraordinary city we call Seattle.  This week’s frame is named after one of the major highlights:

GREENWOOD in GREENISH

This model’s appealing soft square silhouette is a contemporary style that delivers a relaxed versatility with just enough definition to stand out in the crowd.  The muted matte green finish is airy & light as Seattle’s best spring day.

Greenwood is one of Seattle’s north central districts that neighbors our own Fremont area. Some people consider it “Phinneywood” now, as the growing volume of businesses and residential zones blur the divide between the two locales. It is abuzz with restaurants, bars, local mom & pop shops, and cool boutiques. Also, the arts are alive & well with such venues as The Art Center of Greenwood, Taproot Theater, and  the 2nd Friday Art Walk.

According to Seattle-based blog, THE LOCALIST,  hitting any number of the antique stores, grabbing a bite at the many eateries, or taking a leisurely stroll through Greenwood Park are must-dos in this thriving district of Seattle.
