Getting to know our Newest Optician- Tony!

How Long with Eyes on Fremont:

Tony is the “baby” of the EOF family, just having joined the team at the end of December 2015! He brings a wealth of experience fresh from his time in the SCCC Opticianry program & as an ABO/NCLE certified dispenser.

His EOF “Specialty”:

Tony’s outgoing nature & passion for eyewear fashion makes him a lively optical frame consultant and dispenser…
his boisterous laughter is an definitely an “ice-breaker”! It’s possible Tony is one of the most friendly and light-hearted opticians of our bunch! He brings a great balance of optical knowledge and enthusiasm for eyewear styling to the EOF team.

Some of what maintains Tony’s youthful attitude toward life:

One quintessential item always seen on Tony’s person is a set of headphones– He loves to have tunes filling his head at all times, and most often its some form of Hip Hop.

Outside of the shop, Tony can be found “ballin”- literally, on the basketball court! Basketball is his favorite sport to play & he’s even been a b-ball card collector since childhood….

AND, he’s also a longtime fan of cars, but his love for them goes well beyond his own interests- it’s a mutual passion that bonds Tony to his four year-old son.

Check out this much coveted collection on the fashion rise, VALLEY EYEWEAR

As an independent optical shop with a unique vision of our own, we are enthusiastic about making connections & supporting eyewear companies such as this intriguing sunglass line from Australia. To us, the backstory is just as important as the product.

Meet Australian Eyewear designer,  Michael Crawley- part of the mastermind duo behind VALLEY EYEWEAR. Together with his wife Tenielle, they design & curate this collection with an idealistic vision of what a really cool, high quality pair of glasses should be.

Michael was frustrated with the sunglass market & its lack of good quality-cutting edge fashion offerings, so he basically drafted up the dream pair himself at a time when both him and his wife were on the search for new career ventures. As a matter of fact, according to Tenielle, his first design was drawn one night freehand on the kitchen counter! Way to cook up a dream pair of sunglasses…!

Here are a few of the newest Ophthalmic designs from the collection that we have in stock:

The aesthetic is a bold & confident, deftly edgy interpretation of classic eyewear lines…

Their fashion-forward looks have won the attention of celebrities such as Kat von D, Gwen Stefani, Kanye West, Katie Homes, & Marilyn Manson, as well as collaboration interests with some famed designers such as custom hat designer, Kick Fouquet in LA.

Check out Valley eyewear’s ultra-cool website where you can view some of their designs & collaborative work, and some of the more impressive Optical art music videos we’ve seen:

Eyes on Fremont Collection’s frame of the week: Meet the “Sunday Market” in Dove/Teal

Who doesn’t love a neighborhood street fair? This week’s featured EOF Collection style is all about Fremont’s own:

SUNDAY MARKET in Dove/Teal
Named after one of the oldest street markets in Seattle, this contemporary cat-eye silhouette delivers crisp contrast with its defined brow line. The Dove/Teal color is a less conventional springtime mix that still offers a down-to-earth feel.

Rain or shine, Fremont’s Street Market occupies the corner of Evanston ave N on 34th street every Sunday.

The Fremont Sunday Market is a year-round indoor/outdoor street market that graces the heart of Fremont (a.k.a “the center of the universe”) every weekend.  It has been a go-to for eclectic art & handicrafts, cool second hand goods, local bites, flowers, & produce since 1990. A broad mix of entertainment can also be expected, as Fremont draws upon Seattle’s creative and eccentric crowd.
