Custom Work: Rhinestones

You can never have enough bling, right? If you love rhinestones (and we know that you can’t just like rhinestones, you must love them), we can add them to almost any plastic frame and take your frame from ordinary to sparkly! We recently did a custom rhinestone setting for a patient and we had to share the results because we think they look amazing. The rhinestones definitely transformed the frames and elevated the style. Cost is dependent on the number of stones and the overall complexity of the design. We love to collaborate and let your creativity shine through!

Postcards from Paris

Stan and Linda have taken a jet plane to France and will be attending the annual optical show in Paris this week. We cannot wait to see what they bring back with them!! We always get some of the most beautiful and exciting frames at the show. We will keep you updated as frames come into the shop in the next few months.

Customers Around the Shop: David Day

David Day, owner of Jive Time Records, came in to pick up his new glasses the other day. We love the clean, modern, and timeless look.

Little did we know but our neighbor down the hill has recently gained quite the notoriety with a write up in
Rolling Stone about The Best Record Stores in the USA. Congrats to David! and have fun with the new look.

Custom Work: Matte Finishes

We do a lot of custom work around the shop and one of the things we love right now is a custom matte frame finish. Some designers will incorporate a matte finsih into their collection while others do not. That’s where we come in. If a design doesn’t have a matte finish, we can have the frame sandblasted and tumbled for you. As with all good things it does take time (on average it would add a week to you order) and it would add $40 to your frame cost, but the results can be amazing. The finish makes your frame unique (no one, not even the designer has it!) and it can soften a dark color to make it more wearable. Not all plastics can be matted so let us know if you have questions when you’re in the shop! We can even apply the finish to a frame you bring in off the street, at your own risk of course.

What we love: Optical + Art

We had to share! We found Natalea’s art via a Tumblr friend and we fell in love! She does amazing mixed media fashion illustrations, portraits, and photography. And though a lot of people struggle with eyewear in art she excels and showcases the frames beautifully!
