Get to know your licensed optician… Milli!

Many of you have had the pleasure of working with Milli from time to time.  She’s one of the friendliest & most outgoing members of the Eyes on Fremont family!

There’s always more than meets the eye, so here’s a few tidbits on how Milli came to be at EOF & what she’s all about:

Milli has been a licensed dispensing optician for 1 1/2 years.  She finished the opticianry program at Seattle Central Community College & was licensed September 2011. She is also ABO & NCLE certified.

Milli previously was in print publishing before opticianry.  She owned a magazine & worked in the PR industry for 20 years before the economy turned around 2007, affecting the publishing world.  Deciding it was time for a change, she moved from Los Angeles to Seattle and researched new careers. Opticianry offered her the challenge of learning something new: the mix of science and fashion in the optical field captured her interest.

When Milli isn’t at EOF finding you the perfect pair of glasses, she is most likely “hanging out with family & friends… cooking, eating, & drinking (lol)”.

The Magnificent Sayer in his new pair of Glasses

Meet Sayer Theiss. Apart from being one of the cutest kids ever in glasses, Sayer is also one heck of an adorable model for his talented mom’s art & apparel design business, klt:works.
Sayer has been wearing glasses since he was a wee bitty 3 year old… this is his 3rd pair from us!

This 5 1/2 year old is also a budding rockstar: learning & playing electric guitar is one of his current past times.  Sayer says the new glasses make him a better player… his guitar instructor not only agrees, but thinks his glasses make him “look like vintage Elton John”.

We are delighted to see how we can contribute to greatness in the making 🙂

Happy Halloween to you, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!

On this October 31st, all Hallows Eve of 2013, Eyes on Fremont turns 17 years old!! This is a special day for us- to have our business flourishing as it is today, is a blessing & a triumph for small business owners everywhere.

Nate Ogura, owner of the shop, posted this on the EyesonFremontInstagram this morning:

Happy Halloween!!! It’s always a special day for us. Today Eyes on Fremont turns 17. Lots of great times, ups and downs, etc. etc. What is really cool is the 17 years part. We are fortunate enough to still be here. A story in the New York Times stated the average lifespan of a small business in the US is about eight and a half years, well now we’ve made it twice that. Stan and Linda started the store with the principals of exceptional product at a fair price, coupled with real opticianry. It has gotten us to here, and we’ll continue to adhere to those founding ideas.

So, from the bottom of our hearts here at EYES ON FREMONT, THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us to this day.  Because, of course, we wouldn’t have made it this far without you.

If you haven’t already, meet David- EOF’s store manager & NEW DAD!

To many, he is already a familiar face around the shop. If you haven’t already met our store manager David, you most likely will at some point while shopping for a new pair of glasses or doing some troubleshooting on your purchase. David is here for you. Oh, but not for another week, since he just welcomed a new mini-me last Friday! Emmet Thomas Henton arrived healthy & happy just after midnight on September 20th… Congratulations David!

EOF staff on deck: Meet Emily!

If you’ve been in the shop these days you’ve probably noticed how much hustle & bustle happens here (especially on a Saturday!).  Our EOF family in turn, must grow to accommodate that.

Here is one of a few new faces you will most likely have the pleasure of meeting sometime!
Emily just finished the 2 year opticianry program at Seattle Central Community College & really knows her stuff.  She has actually been with us since the beginning of this year as the Saturday “greeter”, but has since graduated to full time optician to show off her true skills…  SO, when you are ready to experience your next eyeglass shopping odyssey, let Emily be your guide.
